Description:

Starting in Boerne, TX head toward Boerne High School on FM-474, taking a left at the High School.  FM-474 gently winds through nice curves and ends at RR-473.  Turn right and head toward Kendalia.  Stay on FM-473 for approx. 14 miles.  This road has some nice curves and a little elevation change as it rolls through the hills.  Turn left at US-281 and head toward Blanco.  Stay on US-281 until you get into Blanco.  As you get to the town square, there are several restaurants that are around the square.  Blanco also has a Farmer’s Markets at the square the 3rd Saturday each month.  At the stop light at the town square, turn left heading west on FM-1623, which runs along the Blanco river.  After 5 miles turn left onto FM-1888.  FM-1888 continues along the Blanco river and has some sweeping curves and rolling elevation changes and continues for 16 miles and ends at FM-1376 (also known as Sisterdale Hwy).  Turn right at FM-1376 and head toward Luckenbach.  After approximately 2 miles, you will see signs for “Luckenbach Town Loop” where you turn left.

Luckenbach has some rich history and was the inspiration for the Willie Nelson/Waylon Jennings song “Luckenbach, Texas (back to the basics of love)”.  It has also been the home to the Hill Country Run motorcycle rally which is usually held in May.  It has been a favorite motorcycle stop for many years with its post office, live music, and frequent events.

Upon leaving Luckenbach, head back south on FM-1376 and travel around 20 miles into Sisterdale.  The road has some sweeping curves and rolling elevation through the hills.  After passing through Sisterdale, continue straight on FM-1376 for another 15 miles till you get into the north side of Boerne.  Finally, turn left on US-87B back into downtown Boerne.
